‘Fierce battle’: Cloud stinger to hit India in 2019

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said that cloud stinging rainstorms and thunderstorms have begun to arrive across the country.

The weather forecaster said that a thunderstorm had broken out at around 4:00 pm and the storm moved towards Kolkata.

Rain was reported at Thiruvallur in Kolkatta district at around 3:00 am.

Meteorologists have confirmed that thunderstorms will continue for several hours, the IMD said.

A storm system was expected to pass over the western coastal region at around 2:30 am.

A rainstorm has also started to develop in Gautam Budh Nagar in western Kerala.

The rainfall is expected to increase over the next 24 hours.
